05Our journey

From farm to pack, in eight steps.

Every stage is handled in-house — and nothing is wasted: the germ and bran we separate out go on to become Pakacha Animal Feeds.

  1. A farmer's hands pressing soil around a young plant
    01

    Sourcing

Our procurement team works directly with farmers across East Africa, applying strict selection criteria to every crop before purchase.

  2. Pakacha workers checking maize kernels during quality control
    02

    Primary handling

Accepted grain is bagged, dried and stored under controlled conditions, then carried by our own trucks to the factory.

  3. Pakacha's multi-stage cleaning line separating cobs, chaff, stones and metal from the grain
    03

    Cleaning

A dedicated cleaning system removes pests, cobs, stones and metal contaminants, so only clean grain enters production.

  4. A mill worker handling maize during flour production
    04

    Conditioning

Water is added to the cleaned grain to soften it and prepare it for milling.

  5. Pakacha animal feed sacks for poultry, dairy cattle, goats and calves
    05

    Degermination

The germ and bran are separated out as by-products, preparing the grain for milling.

  6. Supervisors checking incoming grain at the Pakacha intake yard, with trucks and silos behind
    06

    Grinding & sifting

The grain is milled, then sifted and graded to achieve the desired texture and consistency.

  7. Pakacha staff adding the micronutrient premix at the fortification station
    07

    Fortification

Essential micronutrients — including zinc and B-vitamins — boost the nutritional value of every pack.

  8. Pakacha workers packing bags of maize flour into branded cartons
    08

    Packaging

A dedicated team handles primary, secondary and tertiary packaging, so every pack is protected and shelf-ready.

06Where it began

Two milling lines. One standard of care.

Each line is milled, fortified and packaged to serve a distinct part of the Kenyan market — without ever compromising on the quality that runs through both.

01Everyday value

Pakacha Grade 1 Sifted Maize Flour

Milled and sifted to remove excess bran — a clean, consistent everyday flour at an accessible price. It goes through the same cleaning, conditioning, degermination and quality control as Premium; the difference is the grade of sifting, not the standard of care.

02Finer grade

Pakacha Premium Maize Flour

Milled to a finer, higher grade for a smoother texture and a more refined finish — an elevated everyday staple for households happy to pay a little more for a noticeably better product.

07Quality & food safety

Built in at every step — not checked once at the end.

Quality and food safety are controlled from the moment a crop is selected at the farm gate to the moment a pack leaves our facility.

At sourcing

How we uphold them

Five safeguards behind every batch.

  • 01

    Good Manufacturing Practices

Personal hygiene protocols and proper sanitation across the facility.

  • 02

    Pest control

Structured programmes to prevent contamination at every stage of production and storage.

  • 03

    Trained quality teams

Quality Control monitors raw materials and in-process checks; a separate Quality Assurance team verifies parameters from intake to finished product.

  • 04

    Consistent standards

No batch leaves our facility without passing internal quality checks, on either line.

  • 05

    Customer feedback

Feedback from distributors, retailers and consumers is tracked and fed back into production — quality assurance beyond the factory gate.
